Master Kalpesh, like his father Govind, followed the footsteps and became legspin bowler. He was selected by the Mumbai, Junior Selection Tournament Committee to play for the Gundappa Vishwanath Trophy Selection Trial Tournament for under–15 years. In a tragic accident Master Kalpesh died on 12thApril,1989.
Keeping
in mind the search for hidden talent and nurturing it, the New Hind
Sporting Club started the tournament for players selected for the
Mumbai Cricket Association Summer Vacation Coaching Camps. The
tournament has played prominent role in Mumbai’s Cricket. Many famous
players who played the tournament like Ajit Agarkar, Rohit Sharma,
Wassim Jaffar, Sanjay Bangar, Ramesh powar, Dhiraj Jadhav,Dhawal
Kulkarni etc have represented India at National and International level.
This
tournament is played for two days on league cum knockout basis. There
will be 27 matches played on grounds viz Veer Ramesh Dadkar Maidan,
(Matunga), BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex), MIG Cricket Club (Bandra),
Sainath Sports Club (Virar), M.C.A ground (Kandivali), R.C.F (Chmebur),
and Shivaji Park Gymkhana.
As in the past the tournament has been well supported by renowned institutional sponsors. Mumbai Cricket Association has extended its full backing to this tournament.
The Club was known for Cricket. New Hind Team was a strong force even though without star players. There were many stalwarts who had contributed for the upliftment of the Club. Shri. G. L. Patil, an M.L.A. and cricketer was a staunch supporter of Club. He was a disciplined man was a member of Polite Bureau of the Communist Party. Due to his political preoccu-pation he had to give-up his cricket career as wicket keeper. He was ably supported by Sarvashri D.S.Mondkar, L.B.Kenny, Dr. W.H. Mhatre, S.S. Agaskar, S.A.Bandekar, J.M. Sabnis, N.M. Wandre, P.Kabli, Smt. Mehroo Udwadia, Soli Udwadia, A.D. Iyer, V.V. Iyer, K.N.Pai,T.H.Shah. R.Popat. and Anand Mehra. Shri. Hindlekar, a brilliant wicket-keeper, played for India. Shri.Temkar brothers, very hard hitting batsmen, served New Hind Club for long time. In the year 1968 to 1980, New Hind was on top of the cricketing world. Players like Vijay Bhosale, R.V.Achrekar, Gopal Koji, Govind Koji, Raghu Koli, Sudhakar Dalvi, Anil Agre, Suresh Keer, Baban Churi, and Arun Ogiral donned the Club colors. In 1981, Vijay Mohan Raj who represented Mumbai Ranji Trophy Team was invited by 1st class clubs of Mumbai but refused to switchover. He was committed because he was nurtured by the Club. Shri. Vijay Bhosale built-up a new team consists of seniors and new blood including Vijay Mohan Raj, Anil Agre, Suresh Keer, Nirmal Mhatre, Albert Fernandes, Nandakumar Pawaskar, Shamji Kanojia, Ashok Patel ( who latter played for Indian Team ).The team won many tournaments such as Purshottam Shield, Talim Shield etc. After Vijay Bhosale, Gopal Koji and Govind Koji formed teams winning combination with the inclusion of youngsters namely Ramesh Vajge, Prashant Gadekar, Raju Dabholkar, Pravin Korgoankar,Ujale brothers, Sachin Koji Pradeep Kasliwal. It was Gopal Koli who devoted his time and talent foir 18 years to conduct free cricket coaching nets. Looking at his noble work, the Late Ramakant Desai former Indian fast bowler provided new Cricket Balls and M/s Ghanashyam Sports donated cricketing materials every year.
These nets guided players like Ashok Eswalkar, who became Ranji Trophy player. Ujale Brothers and many more who latter played for New Hind Team and also earned employment. Gopal Koji without much and fanfare conducted free nets for 18 long years. It is proud moment for the Club that players like Vijay Bhosale, Late Bharat Narvckar, Baban Churi, Raghu Koji, Govind Koji, R.V. Achrekar, Anil Agre, and Suresh Keer, played for New Hind Sporting Club for more than 25 years. But Shri. Gopal Koji and Govind Koji served the Club for 50 and 40 years respectively and going strong till today. It shows their great love for the Club. For the last few years New Hind Sporting Club has been participating in U/12 and U/14 tournaments also. Our U/14 team became runner-up in Worli Sports Club Tournament in the year.2004. It was in the year 1991 due to the accidental death Govind Koli's son Kalpesh who was a promising cricketer, New Hind Sporting Club Jt. Hon. Secretary, Nagesh Thakur, proposed to Mumbai Cricket Association to start a tournament for Summer Vacation Coaching Camps. Today on 15th year of the tournament, the Club has shown great strength and maturity in conducting the prestigious Kalpesh Govind Koh Memorial Tournament.
The tournament had produced players like Ajit Agarkar, Sanjay Bangar, Wassim Jaffar, and Ramesh Powar, Awishkar Salvi who played for India.And Bhavin Thakkar, Pushkaraj Jadhav ( plays for New Hind Club), Amit Pagnis, Shreyas Khanolkar, Faizal Shaikh, Manish Bangera, Krushikesh Shende, Rajesh Pawar,Kiran Powar played for Mumbai and M.R.Srinivas for Chennai, Anand Yalvigi for Karnataka. It was proud moment for the Club that Jt. Hon. Secretary, Shri. Ramesh Vajge for second consecutive term got elected for Mumbai Cricket Association Managing Committee. So too the Life Members, Shri. Lalchand Rajput as.Jt. Hon. Secretary, Shri. Ravi Sawant as Vice-president Shri. Hemant Waigankar and Dr. P.V. Shetty Managing Committee Members. And Shri. Mangesh Bhalekar Life Member was awarded the Shiv Chattrapati Award. Shri, Lalchand Rajput, Life Member, stood first and Shri. Pradeep Kasliwal passed Level Three Examination conducted by National Cricket Academy.

Bhaskar lyer, life member, who had represented Indian Water-polo Team is a Managing Committee Member of Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Cricket Tournament and has contributed generously for the name and promotion of Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Cricket tournament.
And finally the current Jt. Hon. Secretary, Shri. Ramesh Vajge has done a great job for the uplifirnent of New Hind Sporting Club by way of gathering funds as well as making new members for the club. This contributes the progress of the New Hind Sporting Club.
