Plastic surgery training: I
completed two years of formal plastic surgery training and passed MCh
examination in January 1993.Subsequently
I passed the Plastic surgery examination (Diplomate of national Board)
conducted by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
After my training I worked in different hospitals to enrich
my experience.I worked as a lecturer in
plastic surgery at LTMG Hospital, Sion, Mumbai from November 1994 to July 2000 and managed independently all routine and
emergency work of the department and refined my hand surgery, microsurgery,
cleft surgery and faciomaxillary surgery techniques and limb reconstruction. I am very much interested in teaching and was
involved for training and teaching of postgraduate students of Plastic surgery. In July 2000, I was promoted to Associate
Professor Post and was transferred to SGS Medical College and KEM Hospital,
Parel, Mumbai. I was promoted to the
post of Professor and head and was transferred to TN Medical College and BYL
Charitable Hospital, Mumbai Central, Mumbai in November 2008 and performing all
of the above work at this hospital.
Advanced Training: I have advanced
clinical fellowship training in Faciomaxillary surgery, microsurgery, breast
reconstruction, aesthetic surgery (obtained at National University Hospital and
National University of Singapore, Singapore), hand surgery, microsurgery and
brachial plexus surgery (obtained at the Ogori Daiichi General Hospital, Ogori,
Japan and the CM Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery, Louisville, USA).I worked for one year at each of these
institutes to obtain advanced clinical training in the above areas of plastic
surgery.
Fellowship
and Awards: I have been awarded the Ethicon Visiting
Professor of Plastic surgery by the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India
and the best poster award at the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery
Conference, Athens, Greece.Other
fellowships and awards are Best Paper Presentation, National and International
travelling fellowship by the Plastic surgery association of our country,
advanced training fellowships at various prestigious international institutes
and ICMR fellowship for developing a new protocol for treatment of leprous
neuritis.Two of my original works
presented by the post graduate students also have won awards.
