Pest Control

Cockroach Control

Cockroaches have been on the Earth for two hundred and fifty million years. Cockroaches are widely distributed pests that are annoying and when abundant, they are also destructive. Cockroaches destroy food, damage fabrics, book bindings and other materials. When cockroaches run over food they leave filth and may spread diseases like dysentery, diarrhea, salmonellas (food poisoning) and asthma.
Treatment : Gel Technology is stated as the cockroach control product of the next millennium the world over. It involves a clean, fast convenient to use professional treatment. The action of the product is quite different to sprays as it attracts cockroaches to feed on the Gel rather than flushing them out. Once they have eaten the Gel they contaminate each other producing a cascade of destruction through out the cockroach population. Gel application method causes no disturbance or discomfort generally associated with pest control treatments. It is safe, odorless and can be applied in sensitive areas such as electrical control boxes, kitchen appliances and computers. There is no need to empty drawers, cover up food or make any special preparations prior to treatments and no need to leave premises during or after the treatment. Even infants and patients can stay indoors

Termites Control

Termites, also popularly known as ‘White Ants’ have been on this earth for more than 250 million years, long before human beings. They eat cellulose material and are known to damage even non-cellulose materials. Termite damage worldwide runs in to Cores of Rupees every year. No building is safe unless treated against termites. When dealing with termites, prevention is certainly better than cure.
Treatment : Termite treatment comprises of drilling holes at the junction of wall and floor and pumping chemicals through these holes wherever necessary. The drilling holes are effectively sealed thereafter. Application of blanket spray will be carried out wherever Annual Maintenance Contract A P PEST CONTROL undertakes termite control treatment for individual residential flats and commercial premises for a period of one year. 5 Years Anti- Termite Contract A P PEST CONTROL undertakes termite control treatment for entire residential and commercial buildings for a period of five years. Pre-construction Anti- Termite Treatment A P PEST CONTROL undertakes termite control treatment during actual construction of residential and commercial buildings for a period of ten years.

Rodent Control

Rats have lived in close association with man ever since the down of civilization when he gave up his nomadic life and settled down to farming and other occupation with a roof over his head. In spite of living close to man and sharing his food and his abode, rats have always remained undomesticated. They have destroyed his food and property and carried disease to him, and have proved to be one of his most formidable enemies in the animal kingdom
Treatment : The treatment would commence with strategic placement of poison bait to bring the infestation under control. Subsequently, we will be paying regular visits to continue the poison baiting and keep a constant vigil on rodent population. In addition to above, we would also be resorting to trapping, use of glue boards & treating of burrows if any, wherever found necessary. Wood Borers (Anobium Punctatum) which are known as common furniture beetles and they are viewed seriously considering their ability to play havoc with the wooden articles, notably the sap wood of soft wood variety, structural timbers, joinery, furniture’s etc and even volumes of books. This is the most dangerous wood eating insect prevailing in the buildings in our country. The adult is a flying insect, dark brown in colour. The female lays eggs in the crevices and rough surfaces of timber, the larva of which enters into the wood boring through the bottom of the egg and lives there for 3 to 5 years, creating a network of intricate internal tunnels throughout the timber in which the gritty bore dust, faucal pallets and wood fragments remain. Bore dust beneath/around the exit holes is evidence of an active infestation. Infestation occurs by migration of adults to settle down in new areas and also through introduction of infested wood.
Control measures:
Preventive:- Application of two coats of suitable oil based insecticide on all the sides of wooden items before cutting and polishing.
Curative:- Injecting a suitable insecticidal formulation at the prescribed concentration into the shot holes created by the pest on the infested wooden articles, followed by a thorough spray to the entire articles.
Treatment:- 4 Monthly Services. Bed bug is a pest that is often found in human habitation. Bed bugs are oval, wingless, 5 mm long, reddish brown in colour with a flattened body. Bed bugs are human parasites and feed on blood. They are mainly active at night and hide in cracks and crevices in walls, beds and furniture and along the folds of mattresses and upholstery during the day.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs infestations are often picked up from cinema theatres, buses and trains and brought into homes on clothing, bedding and luggage. Their bites cause irritation and loss of sleep for people. Treatment :- Chemical spraying treatment. Three Services will be given in the interval of 30 days for three months.etc.
Requirements Before Treatment :-
• Empty wardrobes and cupboards.
• Remove items mounted on walls e.g. Mirror, Photo frames etc.
• Remove electrical switch box covers.
• Remove items from box bed.
• Cover all fragile items like Television, Music System, Computers, Fridge
Note :- Premises will have to be kept closed for two hours and aired thereafter. Chemical will have odour and hence children, pets and old people will have to be kept away at the time of treatment.

Dog Ticks

Description and Life History :
Ticks are hardy acaroids, having their body more or less covered with hard plates. The adult females engorge themselves with blood once, leave the host, lay eggs and die.
All ticks pass through 4 stages : egg, larva (seed tick), nymph and the adult. Both male and female distend their bodies greatly when they take a blood meal.

The brown dog tick must have blood, usually dog’s blood if it is to develop. The adult ticks get attached to the dog and after feeding for a few days, they mate and the females rapidly fill with blood. When fully engorged, the females drop off. The males may stay on the animal for weeks after the females drop off.
The engorged female hides away in a crack and in 3 to 30 days depending on the temperature begin to lay eggs- 1000 to 2000 in number. The female dies soon after the egg laying. The eggs may hatch in 19 days when it is hot but they may have incubation period of nearly 5 months.
The seed tick can live about 2 months without food. When a dog is at hand they attach and engorge in 3-7 days. When full they drop off and hide in cracks. Within 6 to 20 days they moult to become 8 legged nymphs. The nymph can survive without food for about 2-5 months in warm weather but may live up to 5 months. When they find dogs, they attach and engorge in 4-10 days and again drop and hide moult in 2-3 weeks into adult males and females. They in turn seek a dog upon which to feed and the cycle is completed.

Mosquitoes Control

Mosquitoes are responsible for many diseases such as malaria, filariasis, dengue, yellow fever, encephalitis etc. The female mosquito requires blood for development of her eggs and hence only females bite humans, while the males live on plant nectar. The mosquitoes commonly found in and around human habitation are
Anopheles : Responsible for causing Malaria. Anopheles breeds in stagnant collections of clean water such as ponds, lakes, overhead tanks, underground tanks etc. This mosquito is active after dusk. Culex : Responsible for causing filariasis, which causes fever and acute swelling of the lymph glands. Culex breeds in stagnant collections of polluted water such as drains, gutters, septic tanks etc. It is the common house mosquito and a major nuisance after dusk, biting heavily, leading to sleepless nights. Aedes : Responsible for causing Dengue which has assumed epidemic proportions in urban areas. Aedes breeds in man - made collections of clean water such as water coolers, pots, old tires, can, empty bottles, flower vases etc. This mosquito is a day biter with a characteristic sharp pain. Treatment: - Fogging and spraying of mosquito Repellant.

Habit and Habitant :
The unengorged adults may be found hiding in cracks or crawling about on walls or floor near the sleeping places of dogs. They attach to the dogs on any part of the body but especially on the ears. They are occasionally confused with bed bugs but are smaller than adult bed bugs and are not associated with the sleeping places of man. The engorged females may be found in cracks behind window casings and base-boards but often crawl upward and may get behind pictures, picture mouldings or crevices. Egg masses are found where the females settle down. Masses of seed ticks are seen where the eggs are laid or crawling about on the floor and walls. The unfed and engorges nymphs are found near the sleeping places of dogs and of course on the dogs themselves. They prefer warm, dry climates which our interiors of home provide. They are most active and abundant during summer.

Control Measures : Effective eradication would call for treatment for the dog and the house simultaneously. The former has to be attended by the client with the help of a veterinarian. The treatment for the house has to be a complete one with intensive inspection 2-3 fortnightly treatments in succession for the dog and the house may be necessary to achieve desires results. Every place that is frequented by dogs is a potential source of trouble; therefore basements, kennels, porches and outhouses should be checked and given attention. In the spraying of homes extra attention should be given to spraying about windows and doors as well as baseboards, mouldings, and openings around the window-cord pulleys. The tick eggs are normally laid high upon the wall and when the eggs hatch, the young ticks are inclined to move down from the wall to the hiding places- hence the necessity of particular attention to the places indicated, as well as to folds in curtains and drops.

Psocids
These are small insects about 1 to 2mm . They are found both indoors & outdoors in damp surroundings. In homes they are found in damp places, near stored foods, in and around books- hence they are named as Psocids. Their food consists of microscopic moulds & fungi, hence they prefer damp, warm, undisturbed situations where these are to be found. They do not cause any destruction & are pests only by being present. Sometimes they are found in large numbers which leads a house – holder to believe they might be doing a lot of damage.
Control Measures : Since these insects prefer damp conditions, one way to obtain control is to reduce humidity & prophlactic spray to the infected area.
Frequency : Three Services in the interval of 30 days for three months.
